I am just a beginner runner, well, maybe a little farther than that, but, I had tried two other running 5K apps last year and while I completed one and it was a lifesaver keeping me going and on track, I prefer this app way more!
I am not really into speed times at this point, I am just still trying to make running a regular part of my life all year round; and I am using running for weight loss more than the accomplishment of being able to say that I can run 5K. Additionally, I have a movement disorder related to Parkinsons (dystonia) in my hands, arms and calves. I dont get the tremors...instead I get painful muscle spasms which prevent me from running long periods of time.
That being said, this program works perfect for my situation as I can fully adjust my run/walk ratio. I currently can run for 5 minutes at a time before my calves lock up, then a brief walk and sensory tricks disengages the spasm. I could not do this with other programs, I had to follow their set ratios and found myself messing up the programmed run time. Then, as a bonus, with this app the music speeds up and slows down to match my pace and I get to hear cool tips from Mr. Galloway...both of which was not in the other programs. Since I will probably never worry about my time (I am just still grateful I can still run!), this app allows me to go at my own pace. I would recommend it to anyone!!!
